Sponsored by the Dean of the College of Education for Women Dr. Athmar Shaker Majeed AL-Shatri, The department of Geography in cooperation with the Lifelong Learning Unit, held a scientific workshop titled “The Urban Thermal Island Phenomenon and its Environmental Impacts in Baghdad Governorate”, on Tuesday, 26/3/2024 in the lifelong learning hall. The scientific workshop aimed to identify the thermal island, which is a phenomenon produced by man caused by changes in the pattern of land use within the city, including removing large areas of trees and agricultural land and replacing them with residential areas built of Khorsan, streets paved with asphalt, sidewalks, parking lots and others.
